Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 28, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Lunqo ("we", "our", or "us"). Lunqo is an expense-splitting web application that helps friends, roommates, couples, and travel groups track shared costs and settle up fairly. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data. By using Lunqo at lunqoapp.com, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier from Google's OAuth service. We store this information to create and maintain your Lunqo account. You may also set a display name within a ledger; this name is visible to other members of that ledger.
2.2 Expense and ledger data
We store the ledgers you create or join, the expenses you add (description, amount, category, date, split type, and who paid), and any settlement records. This data is associated with your account and is visible to all members of the shared ledger.
2.3 Automatically collected information
We collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited for security, debugging, and performance monitoring purposes. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or sell behavioural data.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and authenticate your account via Google Sign-In.
- Display your name and balance information to other members of your shared ledgers.
- Calculate balances, suggest settlements, and maintain an accurate expense history.
- Send you invite links when another user adds you to a ledger (via the invite URL you share).
- Improve the reliability and performance of the service.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party.
4. Sharing of Information
Your information is shared only in the following limited circumstances:
- Ledger members. Your display name and balance within a ledger are visible to all members of that ledger.
- Service providers. We use infrastructure providers (cloud hosting, database) to operate the service. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.
5. Google Sign-In
Lunqo uses Google OAuth 2.0 for authentication. When you sign in with Google, you grant Lunqo access to your basic profile information (name, email address, and Google account ID). We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, files, or any other Google services. Your use of Google Sign-In is also governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and ledger data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Specific retention rules include:
- Archived ledgers are automatically and permanently deleted 30 days after being archived.
- Active ledgers and expenses are retained until you delete them or close your account.
- Account data is retained until you request deletion.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Session authentication uses signed JSON Web Tokens (JWTs). However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
- Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. by revoking Google OAuth access).
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
9. Children's Privacy
Lunqo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of Lunqo after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact Us
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at [email protected]. We will do our best to respond within a reasonable timeframe.
